PROJECT OVERVIEW

This project involves the creation and production of a functional paper wallet that serves as a powerful metaphor for the complex interplay between peace and conflict in our world. The design aims to challenge perceptions and spark reflections on societal issues, particularly among younger audiences.

CHALLENGE

The main challenge was to create a design that effectively balances contrasting themes within the constraints of a functional paper wallet. The goal was to present an initial impression of harmony while revealing deeper, more complex realities upon closer inspection.

SOLUTION

To address this challenge, I developed a multi-layered design approach:

• Exterior Design: The outer surface showcases iconic peace symbols, representing global unity and our collective aspirations for harmony.

• Interior Artwork: The inside reveals complex imagery of societal tensions, confronting the viewer with stark realities of conflict.

• Hidden Elements: Subtle symbols of hope and freedom are integrated within the scenes of conflict, symbolizing enduring potential for positive change.

Key aspects of the design include:

• Stark contrast between exterior optimism and interior complexity

• Integration of universal symbols and thought-provoking imagery

RESULTS

The project successfully created a thought-provoking, functional art piece:

• Produced a visually striking wallet design that evolves as users interact with it

• Created a daily reminder of the delicate balance between idealism and reality

• Developed a conversation starter about peace, conflict, and social responsibility
